Why won’t Congress do their job

Since when has supporting the insane rantings of a wanna be dictator been more important that upholding the constitution and allowing the checks and balances set in place for this very situation work as planned.

Why are Republicans so blind that they must follow a “republican” president to the detriment of the citizens of the United States and our democracy as we know it. Why are Democrats so weak they won’t stand up for what we believe in as a country and stop this from continuing? Why won’t Congress do their job?

Trump is most certainly not a republican. Trump is a tyrant who has committed treason and continues to commit treason. He is a firm believer in authoritarian politics and hopes to gain world domination. I assure you, the rest of the world will stand up and the ones who will suffer will be the innocent people of this country. Those who put Trump in power and continue to enable his behavior will be the first to scream “I didn’t know this was going to happen!”

I am sickened by the number of bigots and racists in this country. I am sickened there are so many people of whom I thought were friends, but realized quickly they were actually disgusting representatives of those who value hate and lies over truth and love. There are so many that are so threatened by a person who looks different they would rather die than admit that there is no “divine race”.

My children want answers. They are scared. They want to know why nobody is stopping him. I cannot answer this question. However, I do have a suspicion as to why this is happening.

According to the National Institute for Health and an independent scholarly article written by Tobore Onojighofia Tobore (link to article), “Having power affects the human body physiologically, neurologically, and psychologically”. Most educated stable people in power recognize this aspect and understand that they need to surround themselves with objective people in order to maintain clear reasoning and judgement.

The article explains all of the ways power affects humans but the main things we are seeing with both Trump and Musk are the following noted in Tobore’s paper.

  • Power is addictive and promotes moral exceptionalism, self-righteousness, and hypocrisy
  • Power decreases empathy and compassion
  • Power disinhibited behavior and overconfidence
  • Power promotes unethical behavior and entitlement
  • Power promotes aggressive and dehumanizing behavior
  • Power hinders perspective taking and cooperation
  • Power creates judgment bias, and selective information processing
  • Power creates implied credibility

Noticing a trend? All of this is happening and the more illegal actions, the more unconstitutional events, the more radical acts that occur the more credibility Trump gains. It’s mind boggling how easily swayed the people of this country are. Further, the more he throws at us, the quicker we will become desensitized to the crazy and the faster his agenda can be carried out.

When an individual enters a hospital and the staff determines they are a danger to themselves or others they are placed on what is called a 51/50. They are held for 72 hours to ensure whatever they are going through has time to pass so that they can again make sound decisions. Our country is in need of a 51/50. We need someone to step in and say, you aren’t capable of making sound decisions right now. Your congress isn’t working for the American people and your president has lost his mind. We need help and I am afraid if we don’t get it soon, it will be too late.
