Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. I pray instead of becoming ironic it inspires. I hope it reminds people why we can’t allow the government to morph into an unrecognizable shell of what it used to be.
It didn’t start with gas chambers. It started with small things. Dividing the citizens. Pushing the limits of the government to see what he could get away with. Micro acts of aggression. All calculated to desensitize the citizens. To make them turn a blind eye. By the time they realized it was too late.
Trump fired 17 Inspector’s General under the cover of darkness. The very individuals whose sole purpose is to make sure the President doesn’t abuse his power or over reach in any way.
Trump is fighting to denaturalize citizens of our country. To make legal citizens illegal. He is rounding up people by the thousands. He is stripping members of the armed forces of their honor and discharging them from the military for being Transgender.
Trump has abolished the DEI and made it illegal to have any sort of diversity or inclusion program within companies and government agencies. He has launched an attack on women, on the LGBTQ+ community, on immigrants, and on people of color.
Trump is removing security detail from government officials who have disagreed with him in the past and is making a concerted effort to allow him to run for a third term.
All of these acts from a President who is also a convicted felon. Fun fact: Hitler was also a convicted criminal but was actually held accountable. I’d like to say “Never Again” on this Holocaust Remembrance Day but I fear that on this day of remembrance we need to say “Not Again”.
